Overcoming silence: our vision at REDEZEIT FÜR DICH
In today's society, people talk openly about physical health problems such as colds or broken bones. But when it comes to the topic of mental health, there is often an oppressive silence. Many people are reluctant to talk about their mental health problems, whether out of shame, insecurity or fear of stigmatisation. At REDEZEIT FÜR DICH, we are committed to breaking this silence. We understand that conversations can play a crucial role: They can provide relief, give hope, reduce feelings of loneliness and point the way to the right help. In some cases, they can even be life-saving.
Build trust: Open up and seek support
Imagine a group of 100 randomly selected adults. Statistically speaking, around 25 of them are struggling with mental health problems. Despite this high number, many people feel isolated and alone with their mental health issues. The fear of being misunderstood or rejected is a common obstacle. This is where we, REDEZEIT FÜR DICH, want to make a difference. Our trained volunteer listeners offer a sympathetic ear and overcome these barriers. We create a safe and trusting environment in which it is easier to talk about mental health issues.
Choose the right contact person
Before you seek the conversation, it is important to think carefully about who you want to confide in. It could be someone you trust in your immediate environment, such as a friend, family member or work colleague. Our listeners at REDEZEIT FÜR DICH are also a valuable point of contact. Not only are they trained and empathetic, but they also offer a neutral perspective, free from prejudice and judgement.
Conducting conversations: creating a safe space
You are in control of the conversation, its depth and pace. It is crucial that you feel comfortable and safe in the conversation situation. Our listeners at REDEZEIT FÜR DICH are trained to provide such a space. They enable you to speak freely and without fear of judgement.
Initiate a dialogue: Helping other people
If you are worried about someone, an offer to talk can be very helpful. Our listeners at REDEZEIT FÜR DICH are an example of how active listening and a non-directive approach can help people to open up and talk about their problems.
The path to improving mental health
Whether you are affected yourself or are worried about someone else, taking the step to talk is very important. At REDEZEIT FÜR DICH and our trained volunteer counsellors, you will find a valuable resource. We show that no one is alone with their mental stress. Our work can serve as a model for how we can create a safe space for important conversations in our communities.
Our society needs an open dialogue about mental health. By encouraging these conversations, we are helping to reduce stigma and encourage people to seek support. It's important to recognise that mental health issues are just as real and in need of treatment as physical health issues. At REDEZEIT FÜR DICH we are committed to spreading this message and offering support.
Remember that addressing mental health issues can be challenging, but it's a crucial step towards improving your own wellbeing and that of those around you. Be inspired by our work at REDEZEIT FÜR DICH and use our methods as a guide for your own conversations. With empathy, patience and the right environment, you can make a significant difference in the lives of others and in your own.
